Main Building Addition and Renovation Complete!

We are very excited and pleased to announce that our addition and renovation of our main repair shop down on the river is complete!

Last summer we identified our need for additional inside heated workspace as our top priority for capital improvement.  We immediately started on the design, engineering and permitting process and in early November we broke ground for the new foundation.  After removing the loft inside the building and adding on the 16 x 32 structure, we now have an effective increase of approximately 700 square feet.  We also have new insulated windows and overhead doors which immediately upon installation we felt the difference inside the building!  We’ve already felt the impact of the additional square footage with the number of boats we can fit inside the shop for repairs and restorations and still have room for our machinery.

In the next few weeks I will put up some photos of the stages of construction and list our contractors.  They did a fantastic job and were great to work with!  In the meantime, here are a few pictures of the building prior to construction…

… and here are a few after completion…

About Mike

I pinch myself every day... I can't believe I'm back in Vermilion working at the boatyard! I grew up spending afternoons and summer days working at Moes Marine. I moved to Boston after college and met my wonderful wife, Maura, while living life in the big city and working at Boston BoatWorks. We traveled and volunteered abroad for 9 months in 2009 and then found our way back to our families in Ohio. We are now living in downtown Vermilion with our son, Owen, who visits the boatyard daily at coffee break!
