Ready to Dig!

There has been lots of talk about low water levels and sediment deposit from Hurricane Sandy last fall, but all the marinas in Vermilion are doing what they can to make sure their customers can use their boats!   After a long winter of working on our permit with the US Army Corps of Engineers, we are ready to dig.  Our friends at Herk Excavating will start on April 15 with the first phase of our dredging plan that involves digging out our marine railway and our dockage area.  They dropped off their excavator on Friday so they are ready to go on Monday early AM!

The second phase of dredging will occur in two weeks with South Shore Dredge and Dock with their excavator on the barge.  They will continue dredging from the edge of Herk’s reach and out into the Improved Channel.

About Mike

I pinch myself every day... I can't believe I'm back in Vermilion working at the boatyard! I grew up spending afternoons and summer days working at Moes Marine. I moved to Boston after college and met my wonderful wife, Maura, while living life in the big city and working at Boston BoatWorks. We traveled and volunteered abroad for 9 months in 2009 and then found our way back to our families in Ohio. We are now living in downtown Vermilion with our son, Owen, who visits the boatyard daily at coffee break!
