Moes Marine featured by local artist on bench that will be auctioned for Main Street Vermilion fundraiser on August 26!

We here at the boatyard received a huge surprise several weeks ago when the benches for Main Street Vermilion’s “Sitting Pretty III” fundraiser were unveiled and Moes Marine Service was featured on one of them!  Local artist, Jolanta Karpinski, chose the river view of Moes Marine for her bench.  As you can see below, she did an ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL job!

This bench and 16 others will be auctioned off on August 26th at 6PM at the Vermilion Boat Club.  The proceeds from the auction benefit Main Street Vermilion’s Historic Lighting Project which purchases and installs the lamps along the main thoroughfares in the downtown area.  I just spoke with Nan Gregory, co-chair of the project, and she indicated that there are a few more tickets available for the event on August 26th and you can purchase those at the Main Street Vermilion office or at Brummer’s Chocolates.  You can find further information on Main Street Vermilion’s website.

If you can’t make it to the auction, you still have until the end of next week to view the benches in person around the city.  Maps are available at the Main Street Vermilion office and you can start by seeing this bench, “Boatyard on the River”, right out in front of their office!

Here’s the poster with all of the benches.  Thanks to Main Street Vermilion and all of our local organizations and volunteers that help keep Vermilion a beautiful place to live and visit!

About Mike

I pinch myself every day... I can't believe I'm back in Vermilion working at the boatyard! I grew up spending afternoons and summer days working at Moes Marine. I moved to Boston after college and met my wonderful wife, Maura, while living life in the big city and working at Boston BoatWorks. We traveled and volunteered abroad for 9 months in 2009 and then found our way back to our families in Ohio. We are now living in downtown Vermilion with our son, Owen, who visits the boatyard daily at coffee break!
